1994 vw Golf hesatates when cold, (like bad accelator pump on carb. car)

Hesatates when cold, you have to 2 foot it(brake gas) it is an 2.0 automatic trans, when it warms up 10 mins. or so it runs great! any Ideas??? This is a 1994 VW Golf with 94,000 miles. let me know…
